Srikanth Subbarao is a leading low-carbon energy and climate change mitigation consultant, with more than 15 years of experience in the design, implementation, policy, technology, and capacity building related aspects of low-carbon energy and climate change mitigation projects, including Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project identification, assessment and development, the design of CDM Programme of Activities (PoA), standardized baselines, Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) Readiness evaluations, as well as the capacity building of host country Designated National Authorities (DNAs), policy makers, and of project developers in Pacific Island nations.

Since early 2014, Srikanth serves Transcarbon projects as Low-Carbon Technologies Expert and Senior Consultant with special focus on Low-Carbon Energy, Energy Storage, Renewables, and Fuels. In parallel, he runs his own consulting firm “Subbarao Consulting Services (SCS)” providing high quality, independent consulting services for the Pacific Island Countries (PIC’s) in climate change mitigation and low-carbon energy matters. Throughout his career, he has carried out and contributed towards various international assignments in the areas of renewable energy, climate change mitigation, and environmental management, in connection with various industries, for public and private sector clients, in particular for several national governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multilateral organizations and development agencies such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank Group (WBG), the United Nations Development Programme, Global Environment Facility (UNDP-GEF), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the European Commission (EC), and the Department for International Development (DFID, United Kingdom). Srikanth’s professional experience covers more than 12 developing countries in Asia and the Pacific region.

Srikanth holds a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Climate Change Mitigation from the University of Otago (New Zealand), a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Renewable Energy from the University of Oldenburg (Germany) and a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Environmental Engineering from the University of Mysore (India).

He is a citizen of India, is a native Kannada speaker, fluent in Hindi and English, and has basic knowledge of German.
