Suzanne Shaw has 13 years of international experience in the fields of energy and climate change, developing, managing and securing financing for projects and programs. She has worked in the Caribbean and in Europe, for non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the European Union, and private sector entities.

Suzanne joined Transcarbon in 2015 as Lead Low-Carbon Technologies Expert for the Caribbean and Senior Consultant on Sustainable Energy, Energy Policy, and Economics for projects worldwide. Throughout her career, she has advised policy-making bodies at national and European levels on effective policies for achieving targets related to low-carbon energy deployment and greenhouse gas emissions, while ensuring an economically competitive energy supply. She has significant experience in the economic analysis of energy technologies, including their socio-economic and environmental impact. In addition, in her experience working as a consultant, Suzanne provided strategic advice to players in energy industry on the on the financial viability of energy investments, taking into account technological development, and market trends, but also policy developments that might impact project economics, such as environmental legislation and related penalties/incentives. Suzanne has managed a number of international multi-partner collaborative projects in Europe and the Caribbean.

Suzanne has worked in multi-cultural environments for 13 years, and has been successful in building relationships and collaborating in with persons from a variety of personal and professional backgrounds, form policy-makers, businessmen, financiers and researchers. She has lived and worked in Jamaica, Belgium, Netherlands and France.

She holds a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies (Trinidad), a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Economics from the Université Paris-Dauphine (France).

Suzanne is a dual national of Jamaica and the United Kingdom, native English speaker, fluent in French, and with a good working knowledge of Dutch and Spanish.
