Ho Thi Lan Huong is a leading expert on bio-energy in Vietnam with 30 years of experience in climate change mitigation, low-carbon technologies, biogas, renewable energy, and project development. She has worked for the national government as an expert on renewable energy, energy policy, and climate change for the energy sector for 29 years. Also, she has 10 years of experience in coordinating international programs and serving as consultant in Vietnam for 4 Asian Development Bank (ADB) projects as well as many other projects of international organizations and development institutions such as EEP, WV, GIZ, SIDA, GEF, WB, UNICEF, Plan, SNV, Toyota Cooperation, Agri-food, Seoul National University, Dajin University, and BRTC, among others.

Since early 2014, Huong serves as Lead Low-Carbon Technologies Expert for Vietnam and Thailand and as Senior Consultant on Biogas and Renewable Energy for Transcarbon. Also, she has worked for the Institute of Energy in Vietnam since 1986, conducting research on renewable energy, especially as a Senior Researcher on bio-energy technology. She is the author of model medium scale plug flow biogas digester and co-worker of KT1 and KT2 models that are very popular biogas digester implemented in the whole of Vietnam. Also she authored a quality control manual for small size of biogas digesters and medium size of plug flow biogas digesters. KT1 and KT2 are key technology implementing by national biogas program for animal husbandry sector in Vietnam from 2003 to the present. From 2003 to 2007, Huong was the Program Coordinator for the National Biogas Program. This program received the Energy Globe Award in 2006 and in 2010, as well as the Ashden Sustainability Award for its success in the distribution of biogas technology across Vietnam on a massive scale, improving the living conditions for Vietnamese farmers.

She holds a Master’s degree in Economic Management (M.B.A.) from AITCV (Thailand) and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree from the Vietnam National University of Science (Vietnam). Additionally, she participated in many international conferences, workshops, and seminars in several European countries, and in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, China, India, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Korea and published many papers and articles on renewable energy technologies, energy, and climate change among other topics in the field of climate change and sustainability. Huong is also a member and served in the leadership of many prestigious professional associations, including as Technical Member of the Vietnam Standard, Metrology, and Quality Association, as General Secretary of Vietnam Biogas Association, and as Member of the Vietnam Association of Energy Efficiency and Conservation. She is a citizen of Vietnam, a native Vietnamese speaker, fluent in English.
