Rodrigo Becerra is an Expert Consultant in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and mapping of major infrastructure projects, with extensive experience teaching at the university level.

Rodrigo has over 10 years of experience in consulting for private companies and the public sector, conducting impacts assessments related to mining, oil, power lines, roads, pipelines and also advising on mitigation of environmental impacts caused by mining activities. His specific experience pertaining the energy sector includes technical data collection on several Latin American countries, Environmental Impact Assessments of power lines, and the evaluation of potential alternatives considering the lowest environmental cost using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis.

He joined Transcarbon International, Architects of Sustainability, in 2012 as Special Consultant for Argentina. Currently, he serves as Transcarbon’s Senior Consultant on Ecology, Environmental Impact, and Geomatic Technologies and as Special Consultant on South America. He has relevant field experience and a solid background in conducting research on the applicable regulatory framework, policies, and practices concerning climate change mitigation and sustainable energy projects in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic, having played a key role in Transcarbon’s Assignment for the World Bank Group (WBG)’s global project “Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy (RISE)” in the Latin America and the Caribbean region in 2015-2016. Additionally, he has contributed to identifying potential private, public, and non-profit clients interested in implementing energy efficiency projects, renewable energy solutions, and low-carbon technologies serving different purposes —including increased energy access in rural areas, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development—, across different industry sectors in Argentina (hospitality, agriculture, food and beverage, utilities, etc.) and carried out local and international exploratory missions.

Rodrigo holds a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in Biology from the Universidad Nacional del Comahue (Argentina), is a Doctoral (Ph.D.) candidate concentrating on the application of geomatic technologies to solve environmental issues in the Patagonia region, is currently receiving training in Measuring Carbon Footprint (International Standard ISO 14064-1), and for several years he has been learning about carbon trading markets under the direct supervision of Transcarbon’s CEO, Sébastien Raoux.

He is a national of Argentina, Spanish native speaker and fluent in English.
